Frank Lampard appoints ‘big character’ Jorginho as Chelsea vice-captain

Jorginho has been appointed as Chelsea’s vice-captain by Frank Lampard.
The midfielder had been expected to follow Maurizio Sarri out of the door at Stamford Bridge after struggling in his debut season in England.
Jorginho appears to be winning over Chelsea fans
He was also booed by the club’s fans in February.

But Jorginho, who arrived in a £57million deal from Napoli, has managed to turn his
Chelsea career around by starting every
Premier League game under Lampard
The Blues boss said: “Jorginho is vice-captain and Azpi [Cesar Azpilicueta] is captain, which has been clear since the start of the season because his professionalism and career here speaks for itself.

“Jorginho is a big character and a driver for us, which is very evident to see on the pitch.

“It’s obviously important [to speak English].
“We always try here to push that along as soon as players come in because communication is key on and off the pitch.
“He crosses the borders, if there are any, because it’s easy sometimes to come in and stay within your nationality groups.”
